The Institute is delighted to announce that Dr Anne Simon, formerly of Bristol University, has been appointed to the fixed-term Lectureship in German, replacing Dr Godela Weiss-Sussex who will be on research leave in 2012-2013. Dr Simon will take up her post on 10 September 2012.
Dr Simon’s main research interests lie in the literature, art and culture of the Middle Ages and Early Modern period; and the impact of these periods on subsequent eras, up to and including the present. She is working on two projects: an edition of the letters of the 16th-century nun Katerina Lemmel; and a study of Nuremberg’s construction of a 'brand image' in the Middle Ages and its subsequent exploitation by the city itself and by others, including the National Socialists.
