What We Offer
The Institute can offer shared office accommodation with WiFi, internet/email, phocopying facilities and access to the Institute's Germanic Studies Library, the Senate House Library, and libraries of other Institutes within the School of Advanced Study (e.g. the Institutes of Advanced Legal Studies, Classical Studies, Commonwealth Studies, Historical Research, the Americas, and the Warburg Institute). Admission to the British Library can be arranged as appropriate.
Fellows are offered free access to all Institute events, and are encouraged to participate actively in these. Fellows in receipt of external funding are asked to pay a bench fee of £100 per month.
What Visiting Fellows Do
Fellows and Scholars should write a short report on the progress their research has made at the conclusion of their visit for internal reporting and possible publicity. Fellows and Scholars are required to contribute to the scholarly activity of the Institute and the wider School of Advanced Study and, where their stay in London permits, are expected to contribute a presentation to one of the Institute's seminar series. Fellows are invited to place a recent, normally unpublished, piece of work in our e-repository, SAS-Space. Publications resulting from research carried out during the tenure of the fellowship must carry due acknowledgment of the Institute, and where appropriate, a copy should be presented to the Germanic Studies Library.
Applicants should submit the application form by the closing date stated together with:
• a curriculum vitae and publications list not more than 2pp in length,
• a statement of the research project to be carried out during the period of the fellowship not exceeding 1,500 words in length, and
• arrange for two academic references specific to the Fellowship to be sent by the closing date to Jane Lewin at the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies, University of London, Senate House, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU
(or, by email to jane.lewin@sas.ac.uk).
The preferred method of submission is by email; please ensure that the subject line reads 'IGRS Visiting Fellowship Application 2012-2013'.
All applicants are notified of the result of the competition following consideration by the relevant committee at the IGRS. Applicants are not called for interview.
Closing Date
The closing date for receipt of applications and references is 31 March 2012.
