Lucía Etxebarría (Valencia, Spain, 1966) is one of the most polemical and best known contemporary Spanish writers. Part of the ‘Generacion X’, Etxebarría began her career in 1996 with a biography of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. She published her first novel in 1997, Amor, curiosidad, prozac y dudas [Love, Curiosity, Prozac and Doubts] and her second novel Beatriz y los cuerpos celestes (1998) [Beatrice and the Heavenly Bodies] won the Nadal Prize. She has published more than 15 books winning amongst others the Planeta Prize in 2004 with Un milagro en equilibrio [A Miracle in the Balance]. Etxebarría has also published poetry, essays and film scripts. Her books are best sellers and always bring controversy.The author will be reading from her latest work Lo verdadero es un momento de lo falso (2010) [The truth is a moment from the false].
