Members of the Centre undertake their own research and, in co-operation with the Institute, seek to facilitate the research of others working in the field, by means of:
- An annual lecture given by an eminent speaker and a number of research seminars throughout the academic year, details of which are announced in the Institute's calendar of events
- A conference every three years, of which the proceedings are published
- Publications in the field and the Yearbook, published by Editions Rodopi, Amsterdam
- Projects such as the Oral History project, a series of interviews with surviving emigrés detailing their personal accounts, published as Changing Countries, and the study of the Austrian Centre, the principal organisation in London for refugees from Austria during the wartime years, published as Wien - London Hin und Retour.
